    Forum Progress

The work on the forum is progressing, just wanted to let you know what's going on and where we stand.

I have been concentrating on event information and local communications, the 2 areas I feel will help the club the most. At this point, all the code is in place and seems to be working flawlessly.

    Event information and calendar
Event posting and the calendar are well integrated. When you post an event in the Upcoming Events forum or by using the new event link in a social group, the event is added to the calender, events list shown in the Upcoming Events forum, as well as the Upcoming Events section located at the bottom of the forum home page. Please remember, there is no need to post your events twice, either post it in a social group by using the new event link or in the Upcoming Events forum using the New Thread button. Both will add your event to the calendar and the event lists, Posting in a social group will also add the event to the Social Groups event list. The event list at the bottom forum home page shows event for the next 60 days. The list in the Upcoming Events forum shows event for the next year.

    Social Groups
These are similar to Yahoo groups and are intended to spur local communication and participation. Each social group has a it's own forum, event calendar and photo gallery. The event calendar shows event for the next year that are applicable to the particular social group. These are joinable by members.

The forum for each social group is email enabled. Members may opt to have post sent to them by email and they will be able to reply to the post by email, just like a listserv. More specific instructions for enabling this feature will be added to each social group. Please note, to use this feature, you must create an account on the forum with the email address that you want to send and receive email at and set up the functionality.

Right now, there are 8 social groups available, set up on a per request basis as time permits. Eventually there will be a social group for each state, as well as groups for our international members. It takes me about 2 hours to set up 1 social group, so please be patient with the progress.

    MSTA Members Only Section
This will be available again, probably in a few weeks.

    Additional Forums
Additional forums will be added as requested. If there is one you would like to see, let me know.

    Jon,

Quick question regarding the Members Only area, I assume that once that is done there will be a way to request member status as before. Or maybe that is there now and I just haven't found it yet.

Thanks for getting things back up so quickly.

    Members Only

Guys, I guess I missed it, other than this reply to a thread, was there an announcement about registering to have access to a Members Only Section? I don't always see everything on the Forum, did a search for "Members Only" and did get a hit and went searching and found this thread.

The photo gallery is getting up to speed after the crash.
We now have several of the past STAR's downloaded, with past regional event photos coming soon!
If you have photos of past MSTA events feel free to add to the album(s) or contact me if you need an album created.
    Enjoy! -GA-

Several State photo albums have been added to the photo gallery site.
If your State is not shown and you would like to post photos contact me and it wil be set up for your photo downloads.
Also State "just-for-fun events can have their own separate album.
    Visit the Photo Gallery!
