Is there a RIde for Kids near Reno, NV? IF so, when? My husband and I would like to participate in a ride. I have two co-workers whose children are suffering with cancer and would love to support this great cause.
Since the forum is being rebuilt, I'll take this opportunity to say hello and to ask for your support for the Ride For Kids.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our events throughout the year.

The schedule shows a ride on September 30 in Las Vegas, and it looks like that's the only ride in Nevada. I know that's not close (450 miles one way), so keep reading for one closer.

There is a ride in Fairfield, CA, and that's only 175 miles from Reno. Still not exactly close, but maybe it's an excuse to go for a weekend ride. The Fairfield ride is October 7.

When there is a Ride For Kids event in your neighborhood, I hope you will support it. Whether there is or not, please consider making a donation (any amount is appreciated) at my FirstGiving web site at the link below. Charge this to a credit card and you're off and running. This tax deductible donation will be put to work to help research facilities around the world find better treatments and protocols for kids with brain tumors. Those facilities are required to share their findings with the other research facilities, so it's not just one place or one person you are helping...it's huge numbers.
If you happen to be in the Knoxville, TN area on July 29th, come on by Pellissippi State Community College for our local RFK event. I'll be turning in the $3,400+ raised at MSTA club events over the last year there. I'm happy to be a RFK volunteer, and I'm very pleased to be a part of an organization such as the MSTA that has so many generous members.
Your donation of any amount is appreciated.

Geoffrey Greene... Hmmm... Didn't you used to be someone? Vaguely remember something about Tn-Star?
Chuckle... (How quickly we all forget!)

Geoffrey, keep up the good work. I have been supporting Ride for Kids for some years now. I buy their raffle bike tickets at the bike shows and even attended the RFK in Southern California in 2001. It was a group ride starting @ the Honda HQ in Torrance down to the Pacific Palisades then back to the facility. There we had a BBQ lunch and refreshments and awards were given for various things. Miguel Duhamel was there, al ong with Kenny Roberts Jr. and we had a little entertainment from Buddy Ebsen (Uncle Jed from Beverly Hillbillies.) It was a great event, and to see those kids and hear their parents talk - it was just amazing. Keep up the good work.
That sounds vaguely familiar. Foothills Parkway. Deal's Gap. Cherohala Skyway. Cade's Cove. Buddy's BBQ at the community center. Pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. Good friends. Good riding. Maybe even camping on the grounds at the Big Valley and leaving my room open for the campers to have bathroom access.
Yeppers. It was good.

I too remember SOME good things about the hotel... but most were actually scary!
The Pancakes were definitely great!
