Holiday Inn - Rooms are scarce

I'd like to thank Chris Platt (07 FZ-1) for freeing up those unused rooms, and dealing with the folks at the Holiday Inn directly to get one room transferred in my name. I called back and talked to the friendly lady there (Cindy) and she has my reservation handled.

One interesting thing I found in looking at the hotel info on the web and talking to Cindy, only a small number (about 30 out of over 100) rooms at the hotel have 2 beds. (Many have a king size bed with newer sleeper couches.) She said it is because of their primary guests being business travelers.

She also said that as people check in they may be asking you if you need a room with 2 beds (particularly if there is only one guest). If you do not need a room with 2 beds, they will ask if you'd be willing to switch to a room with one bed.

See everybody in about a week.

So now I know where the last extra room went to!! Cindy from the Holiday asked me to let her do with what she wanted to with my last room!!

For this she promised to make sure the bar had a a bottle of my favorite booze....Myers Rum!

At 12:00pm Friday 8-13-10 a Double-Non opened up at the event hotel. Call 740-374-9660 and ask for Cindy Martin to get this room.

I called and asked for Cindy. Did not get her, and did not get the room. Either someone else beat me to it, or else Cindy's still got it up her sleeve.

I do have a room across the street at the Comfort Inn, so no big deal. Just thought I'd give it a shot.

When I talked to somebody at the hotel a while ago they told me they did have a waiting list. So if somebody freed up a room, and did not ask for it to be transferred to somebody else, they may have given it to somebody on the waiting list. I'd suggest you check again this week, especially after Wednesday to see if any rooms opened up. Or even go there when you arrive if there is still time to cancel your room at Comfort Inn.

I wouldn't have minded the Comfort Inn, but crossing the high traffic street (at night after the dinner/social events) could be a pain.
