Default Holiday Inn - Rooms are scarce

At least ones with 2 beds, even smoking.

My friend was just trying to make a reservation at the Holiday Inn in Marietta for the Mail Pouch, and they have no rooms available with 2 beds, nothing not even smoking rooms. All they had was rooms with one king size bed and could do a roll away.

Anybody else having problems. Could it be that we’ve really used up that entire block of rooms (at least those with 2 beds) already? We’re only looking to book for the 2 regular nights (Friday and Saturday).

For now we have held off, and may check the other hotels around there. It would be a pain, but with 2 people we’d prefer to have 2 real beds.

PS Will be cross posting this to the MSTA (micapeak) email list, and sent directly to Jon Campbell.

Gee thanks Tosh, that was helpful ;(

Its not like this is last minute, its almost 6 weeks before the event, why are we out of rooms already? How many people double booked, or booked just in case they go, then cancel the rooms later if they don't need them or when they find a room mate.

The hotel sells out well before the event every year, this is not unusual. A handful of us even book our rooms upon check out for the next year. There are quite a few hotels in the area, the one directly across the street was being remodeled last year during MPFB, so the rooms should be nice.

I would have done that but couldn't get a firm date from anyone last year for the 2010 event. Did get a room this year, but almost waited too long.

Rooms at the Comfort Inn across the street are also pretty scarce, only rooms with 2 beds are SMOKING.

But at least the rate (with SOS discount code) is comparable, $67.99+tax (vs. $69+tax at Holiday Inn).

OK, here is the real scoop. As of 12: today There is 1 Double smoking / 10 King non-smoking / 3 King smoking available at the event hotel. Keep in mind that the Kings also have a hide a bed couch (not a roll-away as some have said). If you call the hotel and are told by the front desk that there are no rooms available, have them transfer you to Cindy Martin (head of sales and catering 9:00am to 5:00pm M~F) She will get you a room if there are any left at the hotel.
Other hotels that are close by: Comfort Inn - Hampton Inn - Super-8 -Micro-tel Inn (avoid the Ecno-Lodge at all costs).

I have 5 rooms held with two beds...I am waiting on a few folks to confirm their participation and then I can free up rooms.

I should know by end of week

    That would be great.

I'd really like to stay at the event hotel and will be going for sure.
