Suzuki brings DRZ400SM back to life for 2013

I wanted one before and now I've got the fever again. And this one looks great to my eye. Would be good for 2013 SE STAR near Deals Gap.

Unless something has changed since, I'm told that the fastest recorded time through Deals Gap is on one of these DRZ Super Moto bikes.

This new V-Strom 1000 may pry me away from the Bandit. I would love to have traction control and ABS again, not to mention electronic cruise control. I also like the fact that it appears to have a 17" front wheel.

My son bought a drz400sm last year, must be around a 2005 or so, loves it. He sold his superhawk within a couple of months of buying the sm because it was just sitting from no use. I had a chance to ride it last spring when I visted him...what a blast! Only problem I had with it was the seat. Couldn't ride it for any distance, but sure would be fun on mountain roads. I would take a long look at one if I was looking for another bike.

Until you ride one, you cannot appreciate the inherent fun in narrow profile, sub-400 lb motorcycles. We seemed to be so caught up in bigger, bigger, BIGGER that we've lost the essence of the simple motorcycle.

Slightly off topic, but I recently experienced a product that might help those with bikes that have narrow, uncomfortable seats such as the DRZ400SM. Our dealer took a dual sport DRZ650 (or is it DR650?) in on trade and it had a Seat Concepts seat kit installed and it was amazingly comfortable. I'm not sure what bikes they make kits for, but you might check them out.
