    Hello from NW Montana

Hello all. My name's Matt and I live in NW Montana. I just recently purchased a 1993 Honda CBR 1000F and found this forum while doing a search for sport touring info I know my CBR might not be an ideal bike for ST'ing, but it's served me well so far... Was hoping to find some others from my area, but it looks like I may be the only one on here....

You might be the only one from that area on here, but you do have the good fortune to live in a beautiful area of the country for sure. My uncle was a forest ranger in that area for many years before he was transferred to Alaska and finished his career there. I remember traveling out there as a kid and camping up on Flathead Lake......beautiful!

    Welcome to the MSTA.

Hello Matt, and welcome to the MSTA! I am also envious of your home base. I don't know if you've received your Blue Book yet, but there are only three other members in Montana, and two of those are a couple. They live in Billings and Great Falls, and I don't know if either are close to you. If you want contact info, please send me a pm. Again, welcome, and I hope to see you at a rally. Syd

Welcome aboard, add me as another with envy of your locale. I just did a trip out west this past summer riding in CO & WY, spent several days around Tetons & Yellowstone, then up Beartooth Hwy into Red Lodge MT and back to Cody. Very beautiful country, really enjoyed my time there.

As far as members in your area, Syd is right there are not that many there. But we do have members across the west, including CO & WY which are pretty active. Maybe some in WA that are closer to you. This past summer our national rally (STAR) was held in Avon CO, it was the 5-6 time it has been there in 30 years.

Thanks for the welcome I'll have to see if there is something I can do about there only being 4 members total in Montana lol. I have a few friends that I ride with that live local and I'll have to let them know about this group.
Syd, I'm not a MSTA member yet. I just found this web page last night and signed up. Still need to print off a membership application and send it in

Hi and welcome to the board.

You can sport tour on anything you love to ride. We have everything from 250's to 1800's from cruisers to Gold Wings to Harleys and dirt and dual sport bikes. The whole idea of this groups is that we all love to ride, go places and do it in a proper and as safe a manner as possible. We all believe in ATGATT and most of us practice it.

There are not a lot of members in Montana but Colorado has several and we just had a national rally at Avon Colorado. I would love to have an excuse/rally to go to in the northwest part of the country as I haven't made it up that direction yet or to the far northeast either.

Take care and maybe you can make a rally or something as a destination ride.

I'd like to try to make it to a rally at some point. It looks like this is a pretty lively group lol. I, too, believe in AGATT. The highways here in Montana are just too dangerous to be out riding without all of your gear!
