Ouch on the thumb! I know very well how tough doing everyday stuff is with a bad thumb. I had to have mine reconstructed after a crash back in 86. Best of luck with your surgery and happy new bike hunting! Looking at another ZX10?

Didn't x-ray the ankle, it's black & swollen, but not really hurting. Was only worried about the knees, had them check the thumb just because it still isn't working. Consider myself very lucky. Checking on prices to repair the bike to a track bike, afraid it isn't going to be cost effective though.

The insurance adjuster told us that out of every 10 bikes he sees, about 3 are fatalities. He told us a story about a young couple on a sportbike, rear ended by a car, then the bike caught fire. When he went to see the burned bike, the 2 helmets were still strapped to the back of the bike - never put on - both kids were killed.
After talking with him, I'll probably sleep in my gear tonight.

Yeah just remember the insurance guys are like cops and paramedics. They see bad stuff happen to folks all the time (or the aftermath anyway) its their job to see that stuff so their perceptions may be a bit skewed.
