Bob was in Cleveland recently for the beginning of the trial for the person that hit him. I saw it on the news, Bob read a statement saying he didn't know or understand what kind of person does this "hits another with a 5000 pound car, stops long enough to see the carnage they have done, then drives away."

Bob's life will forever be impacted by this event, but from what I've read here he is planning to try and live life to the fullest and is dealing with the whole thing quite well.

Here's the outcome of the trial.
Seems like a slap on the wrist for the crime.

I and a few other Michigan MSTA members had an opportunity to attend Bob's fundraiser dinner in Pinckney
last friday. Looks like it was a really good turnout. It was good to see Bob was doing well after what he
    has gone through.

While that may seem like a slap on the wrist is its substantially more than I recall in some prior cases of motoycyclists being hit by a car and injured or even killed. One specifically that I remember was Bill Janklow, a politician from South Dakota who hit and killed a motorcycle, his sentence for second degree manslaughter was 100 days in jail, about 1/8 of this sentence.
