When Dianne first got her FZ6 she used a tail bag on the rear seat to carry rain gear and other things such as (flamable) hairspray.
Well the bag became partially detached and rested on the hot exhaust and BINGO....smoke & fire at 70MPH!

Later we got a good laugh out of it! -JEP-
Thanks everyone for sharing our stories, While funny now they are also very informative. This is my rookie season so I don't have many stories yet....and I love learning as much as I can about riding. Note to self: Don't take hair spray on furniture polish in saddle bags. LOL

I have smallish Givi hardbags on my FZ6. I love them. I can take my coffee, water bottle, lunch, purse, and gym bags with gym shoes (even some graded school work) to school with me. They snap on easy and at times are hard to slip off but still great. I am the coolest 3rd grade teacher at my school. lol

I have a funny trunk story though from my husband's bike. He has a Givi trunk on his VFR800. We were taking an over night trip (him on his VFR and me on my FZ6) about 100 miles from home so the trunk was full of stuff. Unfortunately, it was construction season (we have two season in Northern Nevada - Winter and road construction). We finally left all the road construction behind us ( I'm talking 15 miles of twisties with partically ground up asphalt) and were cruising on a nice newly paved two-land highway with very little traffic - nice twisties. We hit a bridge at about 75 mph. His trunk bounced off, hung from the electrical cord for about 50 feet and then slid right-side up to the edge of the road. I expertly avoided hitting it - I even stopped before it did . I called to my hubbie on our Scala Riders that his trunk fell off. He hadn't noticed. I got to hear a few explitives while he turned his bike around and came back. It clipped back on and he drove more cautiously the rest of the way home. The trunk had a good deal of road rash on it but was fully functional and structurally sound. We have a Givi DC here in Reno. He took it to them on Monday. They gave him a new mounting bracket. He ordered a new case at cost and it came within 2 days. We were impressed with Givi's response. The old trunk and mounting bracket were plastic. The new one has metal clips that latch the trunk to the mounting bracket. A better design for sure.

I've been super impressed with my Givi trunk which has been on three bikes so far. I think I'm gonna keep it lol. It's slowly collecting stickers as time goes on and getting more "character" also.

I'm considering collecting stickers to cover the burn holes if I do not get them replaced.
