I was up to see Kim today (Sat). They did the surgery yesterday. It took 5 hours, and included a skin graft.

Today he was in good spirits, with some good stuff to control the pain. He's already got his plans laid for a new motorcycle. Those plans had actually been initiated before his accident, though now they will probably be completed a bit later than originally planned.

Don't hesitate to go see him. As mentioned above, he appreciates the visitors.

I was in to visit Kim today as well. He was indeed in good spirits and we enjoyed chatting for over an hour about lots of things. He will definitely be riding again, and already has a new machine. We talk extensively about MSTA and what a great group of people it is.

I know from personal experience the challenges that lie ahead, and I shared with Kim that his attitude will make a huge difference in his recovery. His attitude is in fact stellar. With luck, he will be released mid week.

    Hello Everyone,

Spoke with Kim this morning. We're pushing toward the 3 week mark now, still in the hospital, with no set departure date. I'd be going insane by now...Kim's keeping himself in a very positive state.

This morning, 6:30a, they removed the drain pumps and dressings. During surgery, they did do skin graphs. They're looking good and the head surgeon will be checking eveything later today.

He said most of the pain's past now. He's happy to receive calls he said. Personally, I think the many calls and visits he's received have done a lot to keep his spirits up.

    FYI,

    JT...

I stopped by yesterday September the 16th and they could not find anyone with the last name staring with Ew.

I'm figuring Kim has been sprung.

    Hello Everyone,

Been 'away from it all' for a bit. Yes, Kim has been sprung. He's at home now working at getting things back together. Talking with him yesterday, he said it's the first time in almost 4 weeks he's been in a position to think about much else.

He is ambulatory. Needs crutches but, oddly enough, they did not put him in a massive cast. Even so, he's not able to drive since he can't get his right leg out of the way.

He indicated he's hoping to make it to the meeting on Saturday. He hasn't figured out the details yet. If someone's able to swing by (he's just outside Ann Arbor, along Huron River Drive), consider giving him a ride.

    Cheers!

Hey JT, Well if I don't ride, I'll be coming pretty much that way. If someone else already is getting him that's fine by me.
