    Ims/Dealer show 2013 in Indy

It has been announced that the IMS will be combined with the Dealer show next Feb.15-17 , at Lucas Oil Stadium. I am wondering if any of the Indiana members could give us some suggestions on hotels and restaurants close to the venue?
from what I am hearing there will be quite a bit of interest in attending from members in the Ohio and Michigan areas.

perhaps a non-event event is in order?

When I worked for the Mother Ship, I attended the Dealer Show most years and it was my experience at that time that hotels within walking distance were pricey and you have to remember that the football & baseball stadiums are also in that same immediate
area. Of course, the cost to me was inconsequential at the time but now I have to ration my dollars! With times a lot tougher
in the motorcycle biz, I can see why they would try and combine the shows. The Indiana Squadron usually has a "breakfast meeting" at Shapiro's Deli just down the street on that Sunday of the show.

My search for hotel rooms for Indy MotoGP confirmed what Tosh said, those close to downtown are going to be pricey. I would suggest just finding a decent place that is convenient (near the highway) and cheap. For GP we stayed at Comfort in off I-70 east side of town at Shadeland Ave. There were at least 3 other places there, and that was only about 5 miles (10 minutes) from downtown.

As far as food, we went to the Bikes on Meridian thing Saturday in Indy which was downtown. We parked near Lucas Oil Stadium and walked to the Meridian area (very close). There are tons of restaurants there, and I saw several sppots a guide map showing all the food/drink, etc that was there. Everything from casual dining to upscale, chain/franchise stuff like Hard Rock Cafe, Tilted Kilt, Old Spaghetti Factory and local eateries. We ate dinner at Ike & Jonesy's (http://www.ikeandjonesys.com/), mostly bar food but they also had good grilled chicken and a nice steak (both of us enjoyed our reasonably priced meals).

I'm curious about this event and may consider it, but Indy is 4.5 hours away, in the middle of February. I always thought the dealer show was just that, dealers only. Is that wrong? Or does this combo event mean that average consumers can see some of the stuff that the dealer's had access to before?

I believe that's about as big a Freudian slip in typing as I've seen lately. You put a smile on my face.
