Feature Editor and Advertizing Director Positions open.

I have been promoted to Managing Editor. My previous position since Jan 2009 ie Feature Editor is now open for a volunteer to step into. It is a great position in the STAReview staff positions. Your primary function is to edit features, thus the name feature editor. You also create features for publication. You help out with STAR articles. You can coordinate with an event point of contact to help out with the feature on the event and help choose photos for publication.

But the position is open for additional expansion as I did. At first thought it would be too tasking but I grew into it, and added road tests, product test, riding school tests etc. As a feature editor you are put into the position of MEDIA and get better treatment at events. The magazine with your name in the staff position and your photo inside the magazine is your business card.

You are not required to attend any events but if you do, it would be desirable to take photos and take notes on the event so you can help the event coordinator with the article.

I have had a great time as feature editor, and look forward to training my replacement. Whomever takes this position will find it brings great rewards. If you are concerned about the time spent, as you become proficient at the position, and i have seem most MSTA members are great writers, any edit or feature creation will take dramatically less time. As always I will be there to provide support and mentoring.

The position of Advertizing Director is open also. You coordinate with advertisers for STAReview Magazine. You are the main point of contact to provide them contracts, receive add layouts, and provide them to the Managing Editor for publication. Leza has done a great job organizing this position and will mentor the new Advertizing Director. With the upgrades Leza has done this position runs very well.
