What a great weekend! We had stellar weather. Roughly 60 fine folks gathered as we enjoyed the fantastic riding in the area and the fellowship with each other as we remembered our good friend Rock Rhodes. I am pleased to announce that the t-shirt sales generated about $200 to be donated to the Ride for Kids (PBTF). Coupled with the 50/50 raffle (whose winner donated the winnings back!) we raised around $450 over the weekend for our favorite charity in memory of Rock. This was one of the most rewarding events I have coordinated. With no reported accidents and seeing all the happy people enjoying themselves and being able to pay tribute to a special friend, I was humbled and richly rewarded. Thank you all to all who attended and made that possible. One of the most memorable points was when Mike Harper broke out a bottle of Tarantula (or as Rock affectionately referred to as "windex", his usual post ride drink) we all rose our glasses in a toast to Rock. A fitting way to close out the Saturday evening's event.

One announcement I made over the weekend concerning next years event is being the South-East STAR, I am going to try to do a roving event over the southeast. Next year we will be at the Iron Horse Lodge near Deals Gap in Stecoah, NC. http://www.ironhorsenc.com/ I'm planning on it being a just for fun, non-event, but if someone wants to make it a full fledged AMA sanctioned event, I will be more than happy to help out with that. I've already booked us for the Weekend of September 6-8. I know it is close to Labor Day weekend, but the dates we typically have our SE-STAR event was already booked as well as the weekend before and after that, so this was the closest I could get.

The Iron Horse has a LOT of lodging options from a bunkhouse to an entire cabin with 3 or 4 bedrooms. I've blocked all the bunkhouses, the private and semi-private cabin rooms. That would get us to about the amount of people who typically attend this rally. There also is Tent and RV camping available. The block of rooms is good until the end of this year. As popular as this venue is, I would encourage reserving early.

Great place for a motorcycle event. As you said, lots of lodging options and also good food and good roads to ride.

Perfect weekend all the way around. Thanks to Eric and all who helped him.
I take a classic European view .... a motorcycle is primary transport.

We also had a great time too even tho we were on 4 wheels instead of two. Still the same great people and the same great roads. It is fortunate that management changed from Hsta to Msta to include Motorcycles, Miatas and More. (a nod to Joan Walkenspaw for discerning that fact)

    JEP are the photos up?
