    STAReview Classifieds?

    Hey Everyone,

What happened to the Star Review classified section? Do members now have to post stuff for sale on MSTA forum classifieds? Thanks Stewart.

I did not see anything that signafies Classifieds on the Forum. I did see some stuff in the Motorcycle heading.

There is a classifieds section here on the forum. STAReview hasn't had classifieds for a long time.

The Classifieds were a main reason for me to be a sustaining member for the first class mailing. Been wondering where the Classified section went also.

And you may not have full access to the forum classifieds until you request full access. I don't remember the process, but others will chime in. Under your name in your posting, it says Junior Member. That means you won't have full access. It's taking a long time to get back to normal after the server crash.

OK Thanks for the info. I will try to find out what requirements are to be able to post classified add for moto stuff on MSTA forum. If forum software is like some other forums, you have to make 50 or 100 posts before you get full access. Or you have to make a donation to elevate your membership status to where you have full access...

In the meanwhile, until forum gets sorted out, I wonder if it would be possible to restore classifieds section in STAReview? I always thought classifieds were a useful tool for members and a great member benefit. I know I have sold stuff and one motorcycle to a fellow member using STAReview classifieds. I have a bunch of moto related items for sale that I would prefer to advertize in MSTA first and then, if it doesn't sell, try some other avenue like Craig's List.

One of the problems with Classifieds in STAReview is the time lag between submission and publication. Back when it was just a black and white, 2 or 4 page "newsletter", that was pretty short. Nowadays, its about 3 months. Most people will have already sold their item in that time frame if they're advertising locally on Craigslist or the like.

    Jim,
Thanks for reply. I just went o classifieds and successfully posted up my bike for sale. No problems! Well, the only problem is I posted it under motorcycle accessories for sale instead of motorcycles for sale! I will try to move / copy it to correct section.

    Thanks everyone. Stew.

Exactly what Jim said. We stopped doing the classifieds in SR because of the lag time in the publication process. The forum classifieds should be open to anyone

And to further help clarify... having MSTA member access (required to download GPS files for events and access some other things) requires you to be an MSTA member (paid dues, etc.) and request member access from the forum admin (it is not tied to a number of posts). There have been threads and other notices on the site, but you can search the forums for member access or contact the admin for more help.
