    Parking at Christie

The latest info email states that parking is limited at the Christie Lodge and that trailers will be parked off site at the Beaaver Creek ski area. Does anyone have more info? How far away is it? Is it secured? Is there tow car parking at the lodge? Just trying to get a better idea of how it all works. Thanks.

    Alan,

As I understand it the Beaver Creek Ski area parking is about a mile to mile and half away. The trailers will be safe and secure and they are providing a shuttle for anyone that needs to go down or come up. Yes you will be able to park your tow vehicle at the lodge for easy access. If it helps any I will be putting my trailer over there and won't think twice about its security.

When you arrive you can come to the main lodge and unload your bike, gear luggage anything that you want immediately accessible to your room then reposition the trailer.

Michael, thanks for the clarification, but that does seem to contradict the email we received. Based on that it sounded like we could not unload at the Christie Lodge, nor store anything there. That was going to make things very difficult for those with trailers (how do you get all your luggage and gear from the lot to the hotel, having to unload then ride the bike over there, etc.

Here is what the email from the STAR registar said
Trailers at STAR - if you are trailering to STAR - when you arrive at the Christie you will be directed to the trailer lot (Beaver Creek ski area) where you can unload your bike and luggage. There will be limited car parking at the Christie. A shuttle will be provided for your return to the Christie if needed.

    Steve,

I understand your comment but when I first started working on STAR and this topic came up I had a concern like others and I have worked it out that people can unload at the lodge then move the trailers for storage for the week.

Thanks Michael, I appreciate the quick response here and the email. This sounds much better. One last question: Will we be able to gain access to the trailers to load up either late Wednesday or early Thursday? Thanks again, I'm sure this will all work out fine.

You will be able to load either time Alan. What I am going to try to do is designate an area on Wed afternoon and evening for those that want to get the trailer load up but that may mean having to return the trailer to the parking area depending on other factors. I will do my best to make it as easy as possible given the limtiations we have at the time.

    Michael,

Any idea what ouroptions are if we are going to be touring the area after STAR and want to leave our trailer and tow vehicle in Avon? I know in Taos we talked to hotel staff and worked with them.

    Steve,

This is the reply I received back with your question

    Michael,

It will be fine to park the trailers beyond the STAR dates. Beaver Creek Security has been notified that we will have some guests extending. How long do you think they will extend? I would like to give them an idea so they don’t think they are being abandoned.

    Thank you,

Thanks Michael. Is Brie Jones somebody at Christie Lodge who we should speak to. We were going to ask about reserving a room for our return to Avon (Thursday July 5) and discuss leaving the trailer there at that time. Its basically a full week beyond STAR.
