    FJR1300 Mileage

    Howdy,

When you're able, I (and likely others) would like to hear what the average mileage* and tank range is for your bike. I've heard all manner of claims out there. Some claim 50-52 mpg, some 35, and everything in-between (assumes US gallon).

    JT: 2010 FJR1300 210/tank, 41.9 mpg (based on last 15 fill-ups.)

    You?

I had an 06 FJR and usually got about 44 mpg riding a brisk pace in the mountains. I got as high as the low 50's once or twice but that only happened when I was forced to keep it below 60 mph. Lowest I ever had was 38 mpg running from Spartanburg, SC to Tellico Plains, TN averaging 78 mph. That included the Cherohala Skyway, but there were long stretches where I was sitting on 100+ mph.

My 06 FJR usually gets like 45 - 46mpg. Now from there it goes up and down depending on what my right wrist does.

    Obviously YMMV!

I get 42-46 mpg here in California, on California gas. When riding out of state, on non-California gasoline, I consistently get 49-52
On several occasions, I have recorded 320-324 miles before filling up, generally taking 6.1- 6.2 gallons. I have never run the tank dry. That seems to hold to about 75 mph across western states. At 80-85 mpg it drops to 49-50.

I haven't done the math yet as the ride is still too new-to-me, but it's an '04 ABS and I know I'm in the mid to high 40's.

Now if I could just find some glue that would set these derned grips...

An '04 is a good choice, in my opinion. It has the early improvements, flush mounted front signals, the extra fairing pocket, the ABS option, all lacking on my otherwise very satisfying '03. Enjoy.

I presume you've tried standard grip glue? That stuff worked great for me one that had been coming loose.

Yepper, installed Symtec heating pads, cleaned all up with alcohol and used ProGrip Grip Glue with new ProGrips...

Cleaned that stuff out, and put in Barge contact glue, having used it for other things in the past that held up well. Clutch side isn't slipping as bad as throttle, but still does. Might try to inject a little more but still, shoulda done the job!

I have an 06 and will get generally 44 mpg or so if just me on the bike. Over one half my mileage is two up and if loaded with bags and Givi box then mileage falls to 40 to 42. I fill with no eth at home and that will always give me a good 10% more. Never saw higher than 46 to 48 though. CC
