Man, when you go on a trip, you go on a TRIP! Welcome and tell us more about it.
Just returned from an 8000 mile trek on my 2006 Yamaha FJR1300. Wish I had found this site before undertaking such a grand adventure as I might have picked up a few tips and recommendations.

Thanks for the welcome. My trip was a grand loop starting in the north Atlanta burbs to Portland Oregon via the southern route, back to Atlanta via a northerly route through Yellowstone. Visit my Blog for all the details.
Great trip... I didn't get to look at all of it just now. It looks so much like many of my trips on my '06 FJR...
Welcome to this Forum and I do hope you join the MSTA and attend some of our events. Our National this year is in Avon, Co and I'll be riding out for it.. heck, come along.

Welcome aboard, sounds like a nice trip. I'm heading up to Grand Teton and Yellowstone next month after our national rally (STAR) in Avon CO. So I read those parts of your blog, funny how leaving the bike on will quickly kill your battery. I did that once at the beginning of a trip and was lucky to have the same result (no long term problems, battery recharged fine while riding).
I've heard that Chief Joseph Hwy is nice, but it sounds like you missed Beartooth Hwy through Beartooth Pass (on 212 heading to Red Lodge).

I'm sure I missed a lot of scenic byways in that part of the country. I was overwhelmed with options and may have to go back just to hit some of those roads that I missed. Coming from east, what I saw was amazing, so I'm not disappointed with any of the routes that I traversed. Good luck on your trip to Grand Teton.
brick: Thanks for the invitation. The FJR is a great ride and I look forward to going again -- especially now that I have a bit more experience with the machine and what's really necessary to pack on the back of the thing. I took a bit more "stuff " than was needed and will definitely take a lighter load next time.
