I have to agree with Jim... One of the "moto's" that I pushed during my term on the HSTA/MSTA Executive Committee is: "We" "Support Those Who Support US!".
If I were a vendor and read some of this... don't see any reason why I would promote this club... well some anyway... there are still many who do support those who support us! Heck, at home I am willing to pay a bit more than internet prices to my local dealer for tires just to help him stay in business. It works both ways... he gives me a pretty good price, not internet prices but darn close.
YMMV... but let's keep this club going!

Jim & Brick,
I think we all get that, and nobody here is dissing No Mar or any other vendor. People are simply looking at their options, one of which might be to purchase tires and ship them there. As I said, I'd recommend contacting No Mar to see if they'll mount the tires, what the tire would cost through them, etc.
While I agree we should support those vendors that support us, that doesn't mean we cannot buy from other vendors and discuss them on the forums.

The way I see it, having a trusted tire changer available at the motel is a huge benefit that easily outweighs any difference in price (within reason). Anyways, I have heard it from reliable sources that some of the Cajun crowd plan on getting tires installed by NomMar just to watch Sue at work.![]()

Does the motorcycle owner need to remove the wheel from his motorcycle or is NoMar ready and able to remove the wheel as well as mount a new tire? My fragile back no longer allows me to remove wheels from my motorcycles, so I have to pay (gladly) a mechanic/technician to do it.

Thanks, Fred,
That is the plan. I expect to arrive Saturday late afternoon, early evening. I am checking in a city about 25 miles away about getting new tires before I leave, but if that does not work out, I may call NoMar and see if they could get the tires and mount them at STAR. My rear Metzeler is hard to read for tread remaining. Previous one wore through despite appearances of having tread remaining. Do not want that somewhere between Oakley and Avon in either direction!
See you in Avon.

Is your rear Metzeler a Z06 or similar (with no grooves on the center)? I had one of those when going to Mail Pouch one year, first time I ran them on my CBR600. I asked another rider with a similar bike about life and expected I had enough tread for the trip. Luckily it rained on Saturday not allowing much riding, because it was showing tread quickly. I didn't use those tires much after that because of that issue. Although I have noticed one sure sign (other than wear bars) as the rubber got thinner I started to see a lot of little wholes like rocks and road abrasions were putting little nicks in them.
I rode home very gingerly and took some pictures for posterity.

Exactly so. With a previous Z6, I returned from a 3 day trip two up to notice that the rear tire had worn through the tread "rubber" to the thin cover over the steel belt, which wore through on the way to the shop to replace it. The new Z8 has tread in the center of the tire so that there is some indication as to when the tire is worn out. I ordered a new pair today. I had to ride 40 miles from home to find a shop, one hour riding time. None of the local shops accept orders over the phone these days! So, next week another trip to get the work done. It is a strange world we live in today.
