No, just kidding, I'm not a big partier and am the farthest from the general "image" of Vegas. I'm usually in bed by 9pm... 10pm the very latest!! LOL!!
Anyway, I just joined and wanted to say hi. I met Nick Zarras here at Vegas' Vintage Bike Night Friday after meeting up in Cyberspace on VFRWorld. He told me what a great bunch of people you are, so I joined.
I've been riding over 15 years and my 2007 VFR800 Interceptor is my 5th or 6th bike... and by far my favorite "all-around" bike. I've done track days, the Saddle Sore 1,000 Iron Butt Ride, and love to do weekend road trips. A 400-500 mile day is pretty typical for me on these very (sadly) straight Southwest roads.
I'm really looking forward to meeting as many of you as time and space will allow and sharing our experiences!!

Welcome
There has been some conversation locally about an "event" in Vegas sometime. I for one would be in favor of it. Having had the opportunity to ride a bit out there, I will vouch for the fact that NOT all the roads out there are straight. I really enjoyed Red Rock Canyon and the Valley of Fire, along with Mt. Charleston and the Death Valley areas. Not as technical as the eastern mountain roads, but still fun and VERY scenic. Beautiful area that I hope to revisit someday. As far as "the Strip"........you can keep it IMO. :D
Hope you can make it to some of the rallies sometime. Thanks for joining.
Patrick
Welcome!
Were you at the Femmoto events in Vegas and Spring Mountain?
You may have met several of us that attended.
Sure wish we could have Femmoto back, that was a blast - and the umbrella boys weren't bad either.
Hope to meet you in person soon,

Thanks for the welcome, all.
Patrick, I agree with you on those areas, but just for the record, once you've been through those areas a few times to enjoy the scenery, you would probably like to test drive the roads themselves at a more spirited pace. All areas that you mentioned are heavily patrolled by Federal Park Rangers and if ticketed by them, it's pretty bad, sooooooo, we don't really "enjoy" those places as much as we'd like to. :-) I spent most of my "beginning days" on the coast of California. I lived in San Jose, and rode from Monterey to San Francisco, as well as further north and further south. I could be in wonderfully hilly, twisty areas 10 minutes out the door. Most CA drivers are aware of motorcyclists and pull over to let us pass, and cops aren't very aggressive in pulling us over as long as we're off the beaten path and not being reckless. I guess I got spoiled... but this Vegas riding is pretty sucky compared to what I'm used to.
Gayla, I wish Femmoto would come back too!! I went to what I think is the last Bikefest where they were present... 2009 or 2010... and I participated in the bike demos they sponsored. That was a great experience. I didn't get on the track then because I was pretty new on the VFR (even though it's an '07, I bought it brand new in August of '08), and was a bit intimdated by the track. Now, I'd go in a heartbeat and I actually do cornerworking for Keith Code's Superbike School to get some free track time!!
And yes, I hope to get to meet all of you in time!!
I'll add my welcome to the forum and club. Let me give you a heads up though...in a lot of clubs you'd be the only person to be into long distance riding. That isn't the case in the MSTA. We have Iron Butt Rally finishers and tons of folks with IBA certified rides. This is a club that rides *right now* instead of constantly talking about getting ready to go for a ride.

Femmoto was great, I was like a kid in a candy store for 2 days!!
The first year I went I had only been riding for a few months - it was a bit scary but addicted me to tracks forever.
We've done Keith Code for levels 1 -3, but all at Barber, would love to do Willow - is that where you cornerwork?
Be sure to come to Star - you'll love the group.
