Agree some of the switches are not as good as on the Hondas I've ridden.
Steve, I had an 02 ST and an 04 RS, 955i's. IMO, both were great bikes and nothing to apologize for when comparing them to either the Trophy or 1050 models. Paul, its been a while but I really don't remember the bags shifting, and on the controls, at least they were laid out for humans rather than Bavarian trolls LOL. I've had my GS for over a year and am still having issues with turn signals and horn.

When I first saw the bags move on my Sprint I did not think it would make any difference, or would be worse. With the bags loaded for a trip it reacts better than solid mounted hard bags I have had before on other bikes. It seems as if the weight is less. That is the seat of the pants feeling.

There are sound engineering principles, not skunkworks black magic at work here. If you use a plumb bob as a tool the perceived plane of centrifugal effect, and true centripetal force coincide. It is why test tubes in a centrifuge neither fall out or spill. It is also why you don't slide off the side of your saddle when leaned into a corner...
