    Text Editor

After doing some research on the product that powers this forum, I found out that not all browsers support the WYSIWYG function of this editor. I use Chrome and so I see all the edit markup tags in my editor. I tried IE and it works as a true WYSIWYG editor. There were some discussions about vBulletin not supporting Chrome others, so I don't know if there is a bug fix coming for vBulletin or not. I may be missing something, but is there another text editor available within Forum Runner? The text editor that I have as a default seems to be rather old-school - like the editors I worked with back in the 70's.

I know nothing about forumrunner on the phone end, so I can't answer your question.

I thought I read that this Forum was using Forum Runner - the PC based text editor is what I'm talking about.

The pc based text editor looks no different to me than any other forum's text editor...

The quick reply editor has on the basic text editing features available, clicking on "Go Advanced" will bring up the full text editor...

John, I guess I am missing something or maybe I have something set wrong in my profile. Advanced or not, I am not seeing a WYSIWYG editor. I get all the tags like start Quote end Quote, start Bold, end Bold Color tags etc.

I understand that I can do that. If you put a few tags in the note it starts to look like a mess and hard to deal with. I am wondering if there is a WYSIWYG editor that is available for this forum.

    Question,
Does your editor not have the buttons for bold, italics, font colors etc?

Are you trying to type in these tag and then have the editor interpret them and do the WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get" for those not familiar with the term).

I'm not sure that John understands your problem/issue, I know that I don't.

Why are you typing tags? Are they for things not provided with the buttons in the built in editor?

I think for the vast majority of people this editor is fine, and allows us to do what we need, including colors, bold, bulletting, fonts, smileys, links, etc.) Maybe you are looking for something different and more complex.

Steve, please don't get defensive. You should not feel defensive and I should not feel bad to ask if there is something better to use as an editor.

No, I am not typing in the tags and I do have the icons for various edits, but when I want to do edits such as lists, bolding, colors etc. The document looks like a snake nest with all the tags and makes it very difficult to edit trying to look through and around the markup tags. I only want to use a WYSIWYG editor if there is one available for this forum. This editor seems pretty primitive to me.
