Which do you prefer, forum based classifieds or the classifieds section on RideMSTA.com (http://ridemsta.com/classifieds/)? The reason I ask is I am looking for more participation in this area. The outcome of the vote will determine which way we will go.

Forum based. The website is a great advertisement for MSTA but the forum is where the action is.

I really don't think it makes much difference where it is physically based as long as it's logically linked in a seamless manner. I think it is important to find a place for it and leave it in place.

I like the thought of forum based classifieds as there is current traffic there. Also, if the classifieds can be viewed by the general public, that would be good. Placing an ad would likely have the requirement of being a registered forum user.

From what I've seen on other forums, this is SOP.

Forum based would be my preference. I view ADV rider "Flea Market" forum based ads every day. Ours (MSTA) are hard to get to and seemingly ignored by most of the people on the forum. Hard to reach potential buyers when they have to seek you out...

I'll give this poll a couple of more days for additional votes, but it seems forum based classifieds are overwhelmingly preferred...

When I am selling something I dont care where the money comes from.

Hey Tom, I bet you do care if people actually see your ad though. That's the whole point of a forum-based Classifieds. IMO more people are likely th see a "new post" on the forum than an unannounced ad on the website.

Just curious... has anyone actually ever sold anything from a classified ad posted on the MSTA forum?

Worth noting, only 13 people responded to the poll... VERY hard tro sell anything on this forum... I finally gave up after my last attempt...

Even if we had 100% participation, Not a big audience when you compare it against something like Craigslist

But, depending on the kind of bike you're selling, it could be a very "targeted" audience.

Same here.... haven't bothered posting ads for some time.
I can sell practically anything in 2 weeks or less on easttnriders or ADVrider.

And if its like other motorcycle forums... half of them come and register, look around a couple of times and never come back. That cuts your audience down to 200-250.
